Live From the DNC Day 3

Well, Bill Clinton should hold a clinic on how to form a cohesive narrative. Part of it is comfort level, and part of it is building on what you’ve already said, not just tossing out more platitudes.
Who spiked the punch? John Kerry started out as I had indicated he would. And then he got fired up. If he’d pulled this four years earlier we’d have a different president right now.
If I’m in for a penny, I’m in for a pound. Beau Biden, too, is a class act.
Both Biden and Kerry accidentally said Bush when they meant to say McCain. Classic.

I’m always struck how principles, values, concepts, ideas even are the first to go when the train goes off the tracks. As if we simply won’t acknowledge the reality.

Last night Wednesday) woulda been a great night to be in Denver: Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Beau Biden and Joe Biden — a great night for the party. That plus the Spielberg video that took veteran-issue-at-a-convention to a new level and the general principles of liberal/progressive politics made it one of those night I loved being a Democrat. This party is becoming different from the Clinton party and I think more in tune with the sentiments of the population.
No knock on Clinton’s speech Wednesday night, he did “everything he had do” and he showed how along the way. When Joe Biden mentioned three great Democratic presidents by name, he shouldn’t have stopped when he got to Kennedy, even if were gonna skip my old pal Lyndon. Not with Mr. Clinton in the room and having just given that speech. That was my one disappointment with the night. I know, politics is hardball. Still, the dude put himself back on the team!
And Mr. Kerry! He may be a dumb speaker but with his delivery and message last night — it didn’t matter. He was great! That was the John Kerry I wanted for President, and the John Kerry who gave me some fucking shred of hope and belief in America when he threw his fucking medals over that fence at the Moratorium in 1969. (Right year? Couldna been ‘68 and I don’t think it was ‘70.)
GO DEMOCRATS!! We need all of us to fix this country and some of you other folks too, but if you are against women’s right and women’s pay and civil liberties and powerful diplomacy for peace and some sort of fair wages and a decrease in our tremendous income/wealth disparity — and it goes on — but if you are against those things, let’s just take it to a vote, and then let’s pay attention to the political work it will take to restore America.
